Mu Dheidhinn Crìstean MacMhìcheil

Is mise Crìstean MacMhìcheil. Tha mi nam chòdaiche agus nam dheasaiche am blog naidheachd LCDTQ+ Gèidh.uk.

Thòisich mi ag ionnsachadh na Gàidhlig nuair a bha mi nam oileanach aig Acadamaidh Inbhir Pheofharain. Ann an 2005/6 rinn mi CertHE Cùrsa Comais aig Colaiste Inbhir Nis. Eadar 2006 agus 2010 bha mi nam oileanach aig Sabhal Mòr Ostaig san Eilean Sgitheanach a’ dèanamh Ceum BA (le Urram) ann an Gàidhlig ’s Leasachadh. Mar phàirt dhen cheum agam rinn mi modalan coimpiutaireachd agus naidheachdas.

Nuair a bha mi nam oileanach aig SMO cha robh mi eòlach air mòran Gàidheil LCDTQ+ eile agus mar sin chruthaich mi a’ bhuidheann-còmhraidh GayGaels air Bebo gus am biodh àite ann airson Gàidheil LCDTQ+ a bhith a’ conaltradh ri chèile. As dèidh seo chruthaich mi am blog naidheachd LCDTQ+ Geidh.uk (no Naidheachdan Pinc mar a bh’ air aig an àm).

Ann an 2007 chruthaich mi AbairThusa a bha na chiad lìon-sòisealta do Ghàidheil.

‘S ann à Inbhir Pheofharain a tha mi o thùs agus tha mi air a bhith a’ fuireach ann an Sìorrachd Rois cha mhòr fad mo bheatha.

‘S e bhìgean (glasraichear-cruaidh) a th’ annam.

About Chris Mitchell

My name is Chris Mitchell. I am the coder and editor of the LGBTQ+ news blog Geidh.uk.

I started learning Gaelic when I was a pupil at Dingwall Academy. In 2005/6 I completed a CertHE in Cùrsa Comais at Inverness College. Between 2006 and 2010 I was a student at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in Skye where I completed a BA (Hons) in Gaelic and Development. As part of this course, I took modules in computing and journalism.

When I was a student at SMO, I wasn’t aware of many LGBTQ+ Gaelic speakers, so I created the Bebo group GayGaels where we could meet each other. This eventually led to me creating Geidh.uk (originally called Naidheachdan Pinc), a Gaelic language LGBTQ+ news blog.

In 2007 I created AbairThusa, which was the first ever Gaelic medium social network.

I am originally from Dingwall and had lived in Ross-shire for most of my life.

I am a vegan.
